I was one of the first students to attend Kent School from RAF Wildenrath. It started with only 1st and 2nd years - I guess that's year 7 and year 8!

Anybody else remember the girl who arrived in complete bottle green uniform from previous school of barely a term? Everyone else at Kent School was wearing grey!

I recall a girl wearing a green skirt and green jumper. She was in 2A or 2B, librarian under Miss Gilmore (art), and girl prefect. I was Hans Cilvert 2 or 3C at the time. Mr. Woodall form teacher, Mr. Ford, Myhill head and deputy.

Alan Boughey - also one of the first!

I remember you - short blonde hair - you lived in the Officers married quarters just round the corner from me. There used to be a gang of us - Bruce & Kieth Roberts - Ginge Wilson and a few others i can't remember. I think there was a girl called Nicola Jardine who was a neighbour of yours.
Anyway good to know someone else is still alive from those days. Cheers.

Wow Alan you've got me in one! What a surprise when you think you've no history with anybody to do with school days. What a memory for names too - amazing. How many schools did you finally clock up? I'm keen to find out what people feel all that moving did to their education. Was it a good experience or not?
Did we suffer, did we gain in different ways?

we suffered, did'nt actually like being at kent school but really enjoyed my time at deal house and living in belguim, my mind set has always been to have a good time, that does not include school lessons and changing school every couple of years just keeps knocking you of course

Jurgen - another amazing memory - I must have been in your class as I was in 1C and 2C and suddenly back to UK before 3C started! Was Mr. Woodall the form teacher, also a maths teacher and always wore his black gown?

Yes, Dillian Mr. Woodall took over from Miss Pole in 64 it was then 2 or 3C. It was top C stream. You will have had Miss Pole for sports. We also has Miss Perkins English, Mr. Cork Maths, Mr. Worral German, Mr. Lacklison boys sports. I think Mr. Niel for Music and Miss Gilmore Art. Have a look at our picture Gallery I have a class photo up Hans Cilvert form 3 C. Perhaps you may remember some of our time. Alan Boughey has a photo up too from the same era.

Thinking back Mr. Cork, maths, used to wear his gown regularly. One occasion a grey suit.
The other teacher who occasionally wore his black gown was Mr. Davies History/Geography. Mr. Ford did so too, but we never had him for lessons. Where did you you go to in UK? I left 65 for Catterick

Jurgen thanks for the links to the photo of 3C but I had gone to RAF North Luffenham then for a year whilst my father did the German Linguist Course. Expected to be joining 3C and no time to say goodbyes as we were gone towards the end of the summer holidays. Anyway looking at the class 3C photograph my memories of Steven Sayers with blonde curly hair were right weren't they???!

Tony, thanks for your thoughts on our constant moving. It seems to me that there are those who loved it, and those who didn't. I loved it up to a point, but found it incredibly difficult once leaving Kent and going to little town schools with the wrong accent, sitting through double French with nothing to do because I had taken German. Trying hard to fit in - in fact spending more time being "fun" and wanting to be accepted, than getting on with studies!
