"Did anyone see Sports Personality of The Year Sunday 11 December. Theo Walcott (a teenager playing for Southampton) was nominaated as Young Sports Personality of The year but sadly did not win. He is the son of Don Walcott, a former Kent Pupil from the mid-seventies. You must be a proud Dad Don.
Phil"

Don obviously kept his footie talents hidden when he played in the senior team (only joking Don).

"Wishing him all the best for the future (and I hope you like the modification to the page Phil), but I'm a bit miffed that Southampton could not have enjoyed his talents for a season or two ... but money talks in footie and I'm glad he's gone to a team where he can grow and develop. Have a lot of time for Arsene Wenger and it must be wonderful to share a training pitch with the likes of Thierry Henry ..."

"Do you think we could hold Don's photo's from the 2002 Minehead reunion with Glen ""Oliver"" Jones to ransom? ""Before they famous"" We might make a quick buck!
No, wishing Theo all the very best. I have to agree with Webmeister that he'd have been keeping the bench warm at Chelski had he signed for us."

Shame Wenger's not named the lad as a sub for the champs league final this Wednesday - well done to him (and his level headed girl friend).

I can only echo what everyone else has said - Well done to Don and Lyn for having such a well mannered spoken son who has done them very proud. Saw some pictues on the box the other morning and Don had the biggest grin on his face. Keep the faith and who knows, we might even qualify for thing in the future.
Still a pity Theo went to the Red side of London rather than the Blues.

And on a slightly connected footnote - my mum lives in Carterton (the town attached to Brize Norton) which is where Joe Walcott (Theo's grand-dad) lives. He retired from Brize as SWO after over 30 years service and has since been a Councillor and also Mayor of Carterton. A very nice chap he is too!
