Mark, I remember the day I started at Kent. I was terrified as I had just come from a very small ( by comprison Girls Grammer School) We were allowed ot "finish off" our old school uniforms - so there was me standing out like a sore thumb in Royal Blue! I'm just lucky my mother didn't make me wear the hat that went with it! You were sat on a dek "twnging" the guitar I did eventually get one and now twang away - I never did get to play like Suzi Quatro tho!My menory isn't that great on the names of some of our classmates - but I remember Theresa Baltrop, Linda Hewett (long hair and round orange framed glasses) and a girl called Elaine who's mother was German. There was a girl called Kim in our class too - always dressed in the hight of whatever the fashion of the day was. I was never allowed to so in common with most of the girls in our class used to roll up my skirt at the waist (and make sure I pulled it down before going home!)LOL

Jane Yes, I remember old "Tookey", a very liberal guy.We had been studying Anglo-Saxon history, and the "Witan",or council, so he suggested that we form our own.Things soon descended into a complete shambles!Wouldn't go so far as "playing" the guitar, more dischordant twanging.

ok...this is probably going to be a slightly silly question but I'm slightly silly most times anyway so I'll just go ahead and ask... I have some photos from my time at kent and deal house (including Nick Manley streaking through the corridors at Deal - from behind natch) so how do I get them on to the site? I have Graham Sharp, Steve Wilson, Bob Brett and others.... so want them or not? wb and say how

Mark - I was in 2M1 - our tutor was John Tooke who used ot get out his sax during tutor group. I don't suppose you remember me as I joined the group the year you left. I was a very shy redhead who came in about two weeks after term started in September 1970. I was friends with Diane Nuttal and Karen Schemeld. Were you the chap who played the guitar? I'm still in touch with Karen - who is now teaching at Windsor school in JHQ!

Most will remember me for reasons I would rather forget – thankfully I’m all grown up now & just keep the “attitude” for special occasions! I lived at Wildenrath & hung around with Angie Sustins – Most of our time was spent avoiding lessons in a toilet cubical (classy chicks!) or hiding out down one of the tunnels! Oh the stories I could tell! I still speak to her every now & again & Angie Power contacted me a few years back – still get the odd smutty txt from her! Both are doing fine! I was in 3 PJM – & mind on folk like – Julia Jones, Ceri Whitley, Sean Cochran, both Angie’s obviously, Debbie Rogers & Gary Rowlinson to name but a few. Sad to see the school looking the way it does – but the memories are still strong! I’d be interested to know what’s become of some of the staff – Mrs Unsworth, Mrs Whitley, and Mr Martin etc! Mr Martin confiscated nearly a full packet of Regal from me & he had his own ration card!!! – ahhh well – guess I deserved it – I was smoking in his tutor group cupboard at the time! Happy Days!

I can't beleive I just found this site. It's fantastic!
Duncan White, you've stirred up some memories! I was a boarder at Deal, my father was at SHAPE and we lived in Liege, Belgium. Jason McKeown, Jason Thorpe, Alex Baggely. There's some blasts from the past! I was in Simon Bullstrode's Dorm for a while till we all got split up for being rowdy. Karen Lord got an honourable mention somewhere in the guest book too!
Sadly, most of the other names I remember are first names only - a Phil, a Geoff who was obsessed by punk music, a "Titch". I remember chasing prowlers across rooftops, stories of ghostly downed WWII airmen, an aborted Ouija Board experiment which - when we asked "Who's there?" we received the letters "HITL...".
The School memories are the ski trip, the Long Dark Corridor, the QARANC insignia painted on the ceiling of the school, the whole Gothic appearance of the place, travelling to school on the Blow Me Up Bus. Tonnes of memories. Shame to see the old place so dilapidated.
Give me a hoy if any of this jogs anyones memory's. If not, I'll continue to believe that it was all a bizarre dream!

There were four kids in our family and we all attended Kent school at some point in our lives, I had the dubious misfortune of attending Kent on two different occasions.
I was a day-bug at Kent for about a year in 1979-1980 and then again for the sixth form (lower and upper) 1983-1985.
My sister Sharon was at Kent from 1983 to 1986. My brother Richard was there from about 1978 to 1980 and my eldest brother Nick was there in the early 70's (about 1970 to 1973 I think).
We first lived at Geilenkirchen and then twice at Bruggen. The first tour at Bruggen we lived in Elmpt right next to the really sharp tight bend off the main road leading out of the village. The second tour we lived on camp, just up from the NAAFI.
I am glad that I could show people photos of Kent School via this web site because most didn't believe me when I spoke about it. Most civvies don't have the intense school experiences of us forces brats.
I remember sitting at the back of a class in the main block during some lesson in 1980 and chewing wads of paper then flicking the splatts onto the tall, tall ceilings with my ruler. When I went back to Kent in 1983 they were still there!!
I wish I could remember some of the names of the people that I hung around with during the sixth form (how rude of me). I do remember playing keyboards in our 'group' with Jim? on guitar and a girl did the vocals. We were forced by Mr. Payne, head of sixth, to play in an assembly. He introduced us as 'Kentski Beat' which wasn't the name of the group at all.
I do remember going on a geography field trip to the Harz mountains, the cellers of 'doom', putting chairs out onto the sixth form block roof in summer to sit on, sneaky fags where ever I could, the bendy bus trips to school and bottles of wine sneaked in for a cheeky drink ....
It all seems a lifetime away.
If anyone remembers me please get in contact.

I have whizzed through the guest book and recognise a few names. Was good mates with Leona Cousins, Elaine Harvey, Alistair Smith and Andy Leech. If anyone remembers me, mail me, would love to catch up. It really was the "good ole days" when I was there.

I knew Rosemary Taite and her brother Mike. They lived in the house behind mine in Agrisstasse Bracht where we hung out together. I think we left in around 1973 to move to Moncengladbach. As Rose was a year or two younger than me we didn't really see a lot of each other at School. I remember her best mate at that time was Kim Pickering
