(At Kent School from 1971 to 1977, academic years: 2ND to Upp6TH)
What a surprise to find this site. I was amazed at the memories it stirred and realise what a great time I had at Kent. Arrived there from Cyprus in 1971 and was in 2RM (Miss Maybury). Brother Mark and sister Dawn were also at Kent. Left at the end of 6th form in 1977. We lived in Krefeld (de Greiff str) and have seen some names which ring bells. Others I remember were Paul Boon, Tim Simmonds, Phil Lawrence, Murray Smythe, Steve Sparks, Kay French, Lyn Corderoy, Di Webster, Mandy Poole, Tina Bushell, Terry Magee, Pat Ball, Don Wallcott, Sandy deSouza ... and from Krefeld Tina and Julie Nicholls, Jackie and Linda Fraser, Pam and Debbie LeCarpentier. Teachers? Well -Mr Whitley, Mr Mordecai (french), Miss Maybury, Miss Beaumont (scary maths teacher), Miss Askew (english), Miss Schofield (German), Mr Ellis (RE - not very nice to anyone! Great times in the PS rooms on the 6th form corridor and the balcony running along the outside down to Mr Whitley's office. Not much studying went on but we had some laughs! What was in those cellars and was there really a secret corridor/tunnel etc - who knows?! I was surprised at how emotional I felt seeing the photos, sad that they are now so derelict.

my fave teacher was mr Osborne taught science. I'm married with 3 girls 13, 12 and 10, i married an ex squaddie. I was much thinner and better looking in those days, ha ha

Found the Kentie website it brought back great memories! I do remember you Gary Warner and Jeff Harris my O Level Accounts teacher. A long time since being at Kent, nice to see this site. I lived at Ratingen, the moved to Erkelenze. I also remember Mr Ellis, Bill mentioned he was a nasty piece of work - I actually enjoyed his geography classes, not so much his RE classes. I don't remember which house I was in. I did board at Deal to finish my fifth year Jan - July 1979. I don't remember many names, Adrian Filmer rings a bell. Sorry to all others I forget. Elaine, also, as next to her in physics?

At last I recognise some names from the site. Was in Tonbridge house, played football and rugby for the school, had a great three years at the school but unfortunately learnt very little. Remember the Skidmores brothers, got to know Pete well in the end. Other names being the Potter brothers, Karl Hanks, Dave Davies and his future wife Jackie, Elaine Cassady, Bev Moir and her sisters, Ratty. Lived on Bruggen and spent many happy hours down the youth club. Joined the RAF and still in 32 years later. Married with two kids (22 and 17). Love to be in touch with anyone who new me....

ha, just been through ALL the messages to see who i recognise. a couple of people mention the rochester lunch time discos - i remember helping to hold those - it got us out of the rain!! Names i recall, Mr Cowan head of Rochester, Mr Whitely in 6th form (scared me!!)Miss Burgess, ooh, can't remember any other teachers. hung around with Debbie Smith, Lyn Corderoy, Kay French, Bobby from Bruggen and sister Wendy, Jeff Hebdon, Don Wallcott, the Skidmore brothers, Sandra de Souza, Sharon, Tom Mcghee. Lived at Bruggen and used to go to Snoopy's youth club, hang around in the Mally and the pool 1976 after finishing o levels in May was a fab long summer at the side of that pool!!! Great memories, fabulous school and even managed to leave with a few o levels!!! (fitted them in between sneaking around the cellars in black polonecks!!!!) ha ha ha!! Life in short, joined the Navy, then married an RAF chap, got 2 daughters (22 and 21) now a medical secretary and loving life to the full. (had breast cancer 2 years ago so everyday is a blessing!!) Love to everyone who remembers me. xxxxxx

I rember you Terry, (I was your History Teacher). You were the only Aussie I had ever taught up to that stage which is why I remember you. Come to think of it you are the only Australian I have ever taught! We had an Australian member of staff at Kent in the 1970's. His name was Jim Dehring, we nicknamed him "Bazzer". However he returned to Perth W. Australia sometime about 1975 but you might not have encountered him at Kent. He was a Housemaster for a while in Deal House on JHQ and quite a character. Good to hear that you're still thriving. All the best!

terry think i remember you because your hair was long but was also bleached by the sun, was almost blond but got darker the longer you stayed in germany, we hung about a couple of times but i was a boarder and you a day bug

Hi I lived in Elmpt and remember classes 3pp and 4pp with Mr Popham as my tutor. I remember the lunchtimes in the tutor rooms and making long slides in the ice on the playground! Lots to remember from Elmpt (and Bruggen) swimming pool, cinema and youth club! Anyone remember me? I was in contact with Joanne Parr (she had an older brother) until about 15 years ago then lost touch.

Sue Bowden, now Sue Court, Yes I remember you well. Kevin James is around on the site aswell. I think Nigel Parsons pops in from time to time. Some of the lower sixth girls when we were upper come in from time to time too. Bronwyn Cromack and a few others, I have not been able to track down many of the others, Legatte went to work for the NAAFI in germany last I heard. I have not heard from steve Webley or any of the others. Duncan Jones joined the army, I am told. I keep and eye for my old flame Sue Herbert, but not seen her for thirty four years!!! not seen you in that long either, Stay in touch
